This is a well-written story that's definitely NOT ordinary. Rix's rich imagination and flare for description take the reader into a strange new world, one with a dangerous and deadly custom. The plot builds swiftly, as do the tension and conflict, until it all comes to a crescendo of a climax. I enjoyed this story. It's a quick read that never drags, and the characters--as well as the premise--are indeed very intriguing.
When Gymkhana Smiles is a unique horror story filled with action, gore, and a nice little twist at the end. A good read. Ms. Rix has crafted a fresh, original short story worthy of a second and third read.
