After losing her husband Brooke insists on taking over his company to keep his dreams alive. Struggling in an industry she knows nothing about, Brooke turns to Saxon, her husband’s best friend and business partner, for guidance and support. Their mutual grief, and Saxon’s need to look after his best friend’s wife, creates a connection beyond just business.

What happens when your heart doesn’t listen to your head? When lines are crossed and boundaries are pushed?

“Life goes on, whether you choose to move forward and take a chance in the unknown or stay behind, locked in the past, thinking of what could've been. I don’t want to live in the past anymore. I’m so lonely; there’s nothing for me here.”

I finished this book in half a day....non-stop reading. Then I went back & reread some favorite parts. I might have spoilers in my review so read at own risk!!! You know what I loved about this book? (well, one of the things I loved). I loved that Nate didn't turn out to be an a**hole. I have read WAY too many books where the husband dies, wife grieves for him....then finds out he was a secret gambler or was having an affair or has a child with another woman. I think that's the author's way of making it "OK" for the heroine to date again & it's taking the easy way out, making the heroine AND the readers hate the dead husband so when she DOES start dating again, we love the guy she dates....This author didn't pull that on us....this author was confident enough in her writing & in her characters that she made the husband a freaking awesome guy. He was hot, rich, successful, sweet, romantic, spent every weekend hanging out with his wife....just a really great guy. In my opinion, for an author, thats gotta be hard to write because when everyone loves the dead husband, the author has to work especially hard to make us like the next guy & make us accept him with the heroine. When Nate died, I cried right along with Brooke. But while Nate was an awesome guy, so was Saxon. Ahhhhh, Saxon...what can I say about Sax? He was Nate's best friend, helped run the company with him, & had always had a thing for Brooke. After Nate dies, he seems to be the only one who can get through to Brooke (ok, ok, it was 3mos after the funeral before he went to see her). Brooke doesn't want to sell Nate's company & decides to work there alongside Saxon & he agrees to help her with whatever she needs. They get along great, work together well & eventually....one late night at work....well, you know. Anyway, that's enough....I won't give any more of the book away. Just read it!!! I promise you will love it as much as I did. And, in case anyone is interested....no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, no grammatical errors, no over the top unnecessary profanity, one near miss sexual assault & one bitchy ex but she goes away pretty quickly & we never see her again. Hope this helps....enjoy the book!

Wherever You Will Go Try Again Book 1 eBook Stephanie Smith Lauren McKellar Reviews

It's harsh yes, but life does go on after someone dies.

Brooke's husband Nate is killed in a car crash. Who's there to pick up the pieces? Saxon, is who. Saxon was Nate's best friend. The grief Brooke feels tugs her into so many different directions. She lets the fears she has take over her heart and soul. Saxon has loved her from the beginning, since their days in college but he stood back to let his friend have her. So when fate hands him the chance to have Brooke, he takes it. But will Brooke be able to let go of her dead husband and live her life?

You'll have to read for yourself and see.
I loved it! It had romance ,tragedy friendship, and renewals. After experiencing a love and a man so great as Nate, Brooke thinks her world has come to an end. She goes into three months of numbing herself to keep from feeling the death of her husband. It was tragic because they were young and had just decided to start a family. Sometimes life has twists and turns and we become angry because we can't control the outcome.
Brooke was lucky that a man of the caliber that Saxon was, was in love with her. He was her husband's best ( like a brother ) and they had known each other since college. He was the only man to understand her and what she was going through. After all, he was going through the same thing himself. He was a man whose parents never loved him and his only family was Nate's family. He and Brooke decided to make a go of their relationship and treasure their love. I wish I could have met a man with these qualities in my past. I have never ever known what love like their is. So I really liked this romance story. I hope you will too.
It is a rare and beautiful thing when I pick up a book and have such strong reactions to the characters. Wherever you will go has skyrocketed to my top two book of feels. (The other if you are wondering is the Off the Map series by Lia Riley). There needs to be a sticker on the front warning readers – ‘this will induce tears – both sad and happy’.
I honestly want to just give this book one huge hug. This has it all. Heartache! Tick. Romance! Tick. Miscommunication! Tick. Wonderfully strong and interesting characters! Tick. Feels! Tick tick tick! Hard hitting drama. Beautiful growth from the characters and a divine romance brewing. Oh talk about opening the flood gates. The prologue to this story brings on the warm and fuzzies and then the first chapter is a swift upper cut to the feels. My heart is broken for Brooke and the fairy tale future that never eventuated. Just when I thought it can’t get worse for her, it does. I have a headache from all the crying while I write this review.
I love Smith’s writing style. It’s modern, refreshing and easy to read but that doesn’t mean the story is uncomplicated. There is a beautiful web of so many levels within this tale that have left me raw. It alternates from Brooke and Saxon’s point of view. Saxon is an uncomplicated man. He’s up front. He’s very clear with what he wants. It’s Brooke who complicates things but I understand why she does. She’s in a very confusing mental state given what’s happened to her.
But please don’t think it’s all doom and gloom. There are lots of fuzzies sprinkled throughout that brought a smile to my dial. I love the banter between Brooke and her friend Rachael. Saxon is heaven on legs and is a real man. I have recommended this book to so many people and warned them to have the tissues ready and when they pull the ‘just sucked a lemon face’ for their own fears – I prompt them – no, you have to read the heartache to get to the true love.
There were times I was gasping by what was revealed and I was cheering them on. I was smiling while reading the last chapter and then the tears started again. (They are now while I’m writing this. Well played Stephanie!) I urge everyone to go out and buy this book and I dare you to tell me that you don’t at least get the sniffles – if you don’t … you must have a heart of stone.
